Hey I’m Gregg, and I am the only man on our Design Team. I am known as the “Wood Guy”. I love wood and what can be made out of it, like a beautiful piece of furniture. If you think about how a piece of furniture gets made, you realize how much effort goes into the design and of course the labor of building it. We sell furniture from many fine manufacturers here at McCreery’s, among them are Drexel Heritage, Henredon, FFDM, and Stanley just to name a few. Our case goods (furniture speak for anything that doesn’t include upholstery) employ solid wood and veneered construction. Solid wood is found in all structured components, frames, legs, posts and pedestals.

Veneers panels are used to create decorative patterns and for large surface areas, tops, fronts and sides that have a tendency to crack or warp when chopped off solid wood. Talavera Drexel Heritage China
Fancy Face Veneer Quality furniture and fine antiques have decorative wood veneers that are used to create inlaid patterns such as marquetry, parquetry and banching. Exotic and expensive woods including rosewood, tulipwood, and satinwood are incorporated to add grain interest. All those surfaces are known as “fancy face patterns” and are cut and pieced together by hand, which is similar to assembling an intricate puzzle.

Realizing how much work it takes to create an heirloom piece of furniture, I always say it should cost a lot more than it does. We sell great furniture at a great value. I have an extensive background in wood expertise, spending 4 years in the lumber industry and 8 years in furniture sales. If you have some time to talk “wood”, come see me and I’ll be happy to show you our selection.
